We hate that this is the only way to fight this, but here we go: @TeamYouTube has chosen to DEMONETIZE @NewsBeFunny and @FunnyLocalNews entire channels AGAIN. No warning, no specifics, nothing. Each entire channel& #39;s revenue is gone, stating our content is “reused content”. WOW!!!
How is our content “reused” content? Well @TeamYouTube doesn& #39;t tell us, and just flags our entire channels without warning. After over 10 years in the YouTube Partner Program, 1 billion views, and 100 million hours of watch time all we get is a copy/paste of some best practices.
Let’s take a look at the FUN @TeamYouTube demonetization history the past 6 months!

@NewsBeFunny : Demonetized on 12/16/20. Remonetized on 1/21/21. Demonetized again on 4/23/21.

@FunnyLocalNews : Demonetized on 10/21/20. Remonetized on 11/23/20. Demonetized again on 1/20/21.
News Be Funny and Funny Local News are YouTube channels that work in partnership as operators of the largest library of news bloopers in history. Our collaboration with news producers and reporters has amassed a catalog of 10,000+ news bloopers coveted by ViacomCBS and many more.
We bring this content to YouTube. IT DIDN’T EXIST until we created and uploaded it. It takes months to program and weeks to edit our videos. There is an art to what we do. Our videos are not randomly thrown together, mindless or lazy. Each video is different and has a narrative.
How can this get fixed? Well @TeamYouTube states it ‘can& #39;t share specifics as it can benefit those who aren& #39;t playing by the rules.’ and to ‘take a look at these FAQs and best practices’ and ‘reapply in 30 days’. What is wrong is not being communicated. It is a guessing game.
Imagine working at a job for 10 years and before your next paycheck, the boss tells you are fired for not doing the right job but won’t tell you what job to do and to just keep working and maybe you will figure it out in the next 30 days to get hired again. This is @TeamYouTube.
We emailed @TeamYouTube 26 times. They passed us around to 15 ‘policy specialists’. Gave ZERO specifics on what we did wrong or how to correct it. When we asked them about their statement & #39;you don& #39;t need commentary or to physically appear in videos to monetize& #39;, THEY IGNORED US.
BUT WAIT FOR IT...while @TeamYouTube demonetizes, remonetizes, and demonetizes our channels with a bunch of robot ‘classifiers’ it has absolutely ZERO problem allowing other YouTube creators to MONETIZE our content that our channels originally created and uploaded to YouTube.
There are numerous other channels that have stolen OUR content, not the other way around, and we get DEMONETIZED. They download our old videos (which is against YouTube Terms Of Service), cover our logos with their channel icon, reupload them, and wait for it…THEY ARE MONETIZED!
There are numerous REACTION channels that have stolen OUR content, just film themselves watching it, and we get DEMONETIZED. They download our videos (which is against YouTube Terms Of Service), put them in a pop up box in their videos, and wait for it…THEY ARE MONETIZED!
Since this happened, our channels have been contacted by multiple companies that want us to use a snippet of music in our videos so they can claim them via Content ID and split the revenue with us. We get DEMONETIZED while they exploit @TeamYouTube systems to MONETIZE channels.
These Content ID companies have contacted our channels 31 times and continue to do so. These are the ‘bad actors’ not playing by the rules @TeamYouTube is looking for but WE GET DEMONETIZED WHILE THEY ARE MONETIZED! One of them put a scam claim on a News Be Funny video today!
Per @TeamYouTube reused content policy & #39;exists to remove bad actors from YPP and keep reused content from pulling money away from real creators who deserve it& #39; like this low effort musical slideshow channel of football player cards? Meanwhile, we are & #39;bad actors& #39; and DEMONETIZED.
Monetization was reinstated for this SEXUALIZED text to speech commentary anime channel with @TeamYouTube assuring them & #39;feedback has been shared with the right team to prevent this from happening in the future.& #39; This could cause another advertiser boycott but we are DEMONETIZED.
Reused content is part of a ambiguous ‘Content Quality’ section of YPP policy per @TeamYouTube. YouTube& #39;s algorithm only promotes content with & #39;quality watch time& #39;. Our channels wouldn& #39;t have 1 billion views, 100 million hours of watch time if our content wasn& #39;t quality content.
Per @TeamYouTube the the spirit of the reused content policy is ‘monetizing original content that adds value to viewers’. We have 630,000 comments and 95.1% likes (vs. dislikes) percentage on our videos. Read some of these comments to see how much value we add to YouTube viewers.
Per @TeamYouTube YPP creators must be respectful ‘both on and off YouTube& #39; because ‘the earnings of all YouTube creators are negatively impacted when advertisers lose trust& #39;. Our channels have NOT caused ANY damage like Logan Paul, Shane Dawson, David Dobrik, James Charles have.
Our channels have gotten so much good press that it has been nothing but FREE promotion for @TeamYouTube with Mashable, Buzzfeed, Time Magazine, Washington Post, ABC, CBS, NBC, HuffPost, and WGN all driving OVER 53 MILLION EXTERNAL TRAFFIC VIEWS to YouTube to watch our content.
Mashable said our channels are ‘some of the best, most influential stuff on YouTube& #39; and & #39;it blows every streaming service out of the water.& #39; So our content blows Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, Hulu and HBO Max out of the water but it is not good enough for @TeamYouTube? REALLY??
News Be Funny and Funny Local News are some of the most respected digital brands on YouTube. Our content is clean, wholesome fun for everyone. Reporters love our channels and love to be featured in our videos. Read these testimonials extolling the virtue of our content.
Our channels are not the & #39;bad actors& #39; we are the & #39;good actors& #39;. We have a decade of being safe for advertisers, brands, scoring 100% self certification on @TeamYouTube advertiser-friendly content guidelines. We even moderate each video& #39;s comments. We check all the ad safe boxes.
Basically what @TeamYouTube is saying is NONE OF THAT MATTERS while it permits anyone else to download our content, reupload it, claim it, or simply film themselves watching it and...MONETIZE IT! PROVING OUR CONTENT WE CREATED IS ELIGIBLE TO MONETIZE! JUST NOT BY OUR CHANNELS!!!
MEANWHILE our channels that originally brought this content to YouTube for the last 10 YEARS are removed from the YouTube Partner Program for reused content. @TeamYouTube system designed to take down lazy creators is BROKEN, targeting us and demonetized our entire revenue stream.
