@harpokm and I spoke about providing support to the people in line. Translating, bringing water, food and chairs for elders to sit on. There are so many of us in the community who are willing to show up, we just need to know when and where the pop-ups are happening.
I also know there are plenty of organizations in Surrey with groups of bright young people who would be happy to help however they can. If vaccinating hotspots is a priority, let's work together to make the process safer and more equitable.
The people running the pop-up yesterday were overworked and exhausted. They themselves were unsure of what was going on. They had to walk to the end of the insanely long line and manage ticket distribution, answer questions and so much more.
We can help if we're told where to be, and what we need. Our community is resilient and we can accomplish so much if we're being invited into the conversation. Ask us what we think about yesterday, and we'll tell you what needs to be done.
We'll be the first ones to help make sure it gets done, too.
