By the way, this photo that’s making the rounds lately of Jim Henson joyously saying hello with Kermit at Disney World?

It was taken by none other than Steve Whitmire.
If you’re new to the Muppet world, Steve is the performer who took over Kermit after Jim’s death in 1990. He performed the Frog for the next three decades.

In an odd coincidence, both he and Jim Henson have the same birthday: September 24.
Prior to Jim’s death, Steve was one of the five main Muppet performers (along with Jim, Frank Oz, Dave Goelz, Richard Hunt, and Jerry Nelson). Before taking the Frog, he was probably best known for performing Bean Bunny, Rizzo the Rat, Wembley, and Sprocket.
