Watched an IG live talk Tyshawn Sorey did earlier, really amazing stuff related to scene things and how younger and older musicians interact.
I happened to be talking about it the other day as well, but how the roasting thing had been more common than it is now.
Without those situations where I got my ass kicked, I don't think I would have progressed. For example when I was a school and totally messed up reading music for a christmas concert, having previously thought I could play the bass because I knew some flea solos. Got me reading!
Here's the big question, as it could be seen as a fine line between tough love and bullying. What's the best way to pass on and receive the knowledge?
Also, when was the last time this sort of thing happened to you? Or should it still be happening?
