20. Ryan Giggs (2008-09)

Thirty-five year old Ryan Giggs won the third consecutive award for a Manchester United player.

Giggs played predominantly through the middle in this season, assuring control and composure for the red devils.
19. Teddy Sheringham (2000-01)

Sheringham won the prestigious award in 2001, for scoring twenty-one goals in all competitions, fifteen in the league.

He won the title with Manchester United and played a major role in the side.
18. Gareth Bale (2010-11)

Bale's breakthrough season as a pacy and tricky winger won him the award in 2011. He scored eleven in all competitions and helped his side get 5th in the Premier League.

He scored a world-class hattrick in this season against Inter Milan.
17. Riyad Mahrez (2015-16)

Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez led Leicester City to the league title after scoring seventeen goals with eleven assists in the award winning season.

Along with Vardy, he was one of the main reasons the Foxes won the "5000-1" league title.
16. Steven Gerrard (2005-06)

Steven Gerrard was Liverpool's first player to win the award since John Barnes in 1988.

He played in an attacking midfield role that season, scoring twenty-three goals in all competitions that season - his best up until that point.
15. Cristiano Ronaldo (2006-07)

Ronaldo picked up the PFA Players' POTY, and the Young Player of the Year (YPOTY) in 2007, in a season where he hit twenty-three goals in all competitions, and led his team to a Premier League title under Sir Alex Ferguson.
14. Thierry Henry (2002-03)

Thierry Henry's Arsenal were unable to retain their Premier League title from the previous season, but Henry's goal-scoring fortune did not stop. He scored twenty-four league goals, with thirty-two in all competitions.

His side won the FA Cup.
13. Ruud Van Nistelrooy (2001-02)

In his debut season at United, Van Nistelrooy won the PFA Players' POTY and finished as the league's second top scorer, with twenty-three goals.

His Manchester United side finished third, ten points off league winners in the end.
12. Robin Van Persie (2011-12)

Van Persie's last season at Arsenal saw him net thirty goals to claim the golden boot and the Players' POTY.

His side finished third and he scored an amazing thirty-seven goals in all competitions for the 2011-12 season.
11. N'golo Kante (2016-17)

N'golo Kante wins his second successive Premier League title, this time with Chelsea and his world-class performances won him the Players' POTY.

He made the most tackles in a game that season with sixteen against Liverpool.
10. Eden Hazard (2014-15)

Eden Hazards world-class and all-round display in 2015 earned him the award.

The Belgian registered nineteen goals and thirteen assists in the season and could make a case for being the best ever winger in Premier League history.
9. Wayne Rooney (2009-10)

Wayne Rooney wins Manchester United's fourth consecutive PFA Players' POTY award for scoring twenty-seven times.

His side finished runners up that season, as did he in the golden boot race. However, they won the league cup.
8. Roy Keane (1999-00)

The last Irish player to date to win the award, Roy Keane captained his Manchester United team to a Premier League title.

He scored twelve times in the season after the Bayern Munich dream, and it turned out to be the only time he hit double figures.
7. Gareth Bale (2012-13)

Bale secured his second of this award, just two seasons after his last. His Spurs side finished fifth, as did the other one when he won the last award, however this season he scored twenty-six in all competitions and would go on to join Real Madrid.
6. Virgil van Dijk (2018-19)

Virgil van Dijk's second season at Liverpool can be widely argued and debated as the best individual season for a defender ever in the Premier League.

The side only conceded twenty-two times and lost the league by a point. However, he won the UCL.
5. John Terry (2004-05)

Until van Dijk's award in 2019, John Terry's PFA Players' POTY award in 2005 was the last time a defender won the award.

The Chelsea side only conceded fifteen goals in the league as they won the competition, and the League Cup.
4. Mohamed Salah (2017-18)

Mohamed Salah's best ever season came in 2017-18, where he broke the record for the most goals in a 38-game season, with thirty-two, doing one better than Ronaldo in 2008 and Suarez in 2014.

His side also reached the Champions League final.
3. Cristiano Ronaldo (2007-08)

One of Ronaldo's best ever seasons came in 2008 for Manchester United, where he broke the record for the most amount of goals in a 38-game season, scoring thirty-one goals in a season for the first time.

He got forty-two in all competitions.
2. Thierry Henry (2003-04)

Thierry Henry's and Arsenal's best seasons both fell in the 2003-04 season. Arsenal famously went "invincible" and, as a result, won the league.

Henry scored thirty goals in the league, breaking the record at the time and consequently winning the boot
1. Luis Suarez (2013-14)

Topping the list is Luis Suarez for his unbelievable season in 2014, just missing out on the title after scoring thirty-one and assisting seventeen in just thirty-three games.

He earned his move to Barcelona and has been the best in the world since.
