Now that Skullgirls doesn't have parity with PS3/Vita/360, I didn't need to worry about memory limits and could go crazy!

Liam & I experimented w/ stacking several transparent layers on top of each other +Jesse made new tech that allowed textures as a color for the cool space BG
This freedom of memory also meant I could throw debris everywhere, and make color maps for them that were only pixels across instead of being limited to giant color splotches like before.

This meant individual sparks everywhere!
EVERYWHERE!!
The hardest part of making all these was re-learning how the engine converted shades into colors.

I took lots of notes to figure out what ended up looking best ingame. It was a very laborious process that took a lot of cooperation with @Skarmand. Thanks, Liam!!
Due to popular request, the 1st FX I did was North Knuckle!

Note: all these anims look way better ingame; these gifs are just approximations using colored Gradient Maps. Ingame the big purple dust is our cool space texture & the trailing stars are spawned from Annie's fist!
Here's Annie's air throw, Gimbal Lock!

It's one of the rare animations to use True Color Sprites, which are sprites (in this case, the gimbal) that use their actual colors and will look consistent across all palettes. Very important for getting the look of a gimbal just right!
Last gif for this thread: Annie's Blockbuster, Pillar of Creation, from rough > complete.

The pillars looked like a hand to me, so I made it crush Space.

This anim was the culmination of all our FX knowhow, using several alpha layers+the space texture to achieve the final look.
LAST NOTE: I just remembered, and this is very important that everyone knows, that I styled the VFX for Annie's dive kick, Re-Entry, as an INAZUMA KICK.
