People making faux psychological reasons people like a trope is the same energy as doing the same for kinks. Like, you know, sure, that probably describes some insight into why some people like it, but glosses over the majority who just like it cause it's neat.
Like if you are able to identify that you like ETL bc you have self worth issues or that you're in bondage cause you're a control freak then great! You get to use that knowledge to enjoy those more or as a way to address irl issues.
The problem is when other people use it like a horoscope to try and figure you out, or when you feel pressured to identify or rationalize why you like something for other people.
You can *just* enjoy something and not have a deeper reason. You can have a deeper reason that is private and only for you to know and explore. You don't need to disclose and you should not use it to publicly attempt to figure out other people.
