Needless to say, no one’s perfect and mistakes happen.

But storm chasers should all strive to focus on the road as much as possible with as few distractions in the car as possible as well. Obey traffic laws, stop at stop signs, don’t have screens between you and road, etc.
The most dangerous part of storm chasing is the driving, it always has been and always will be. When we hear of dangerous accidents involving chasers, it should be a moment for us all to look at our own practices and strive to do better. That introspection is urgent and important
Everyone can improve in this area. No storm is worth your life or the life of others. No radar image is worth looking at your phone over, no tweet about a storm is more important than driving, no footage is more important than road safety etc.

(All things I’ve done FWIW)
So with that said, next chase up let’s all work to improve our own practices in this area. Let’s keep each other safe. Let’s keep those whose communities we are chasing within safe. Let’s remember the power of nature is incredible and we all want to be around for the next chase.
