The more I think about it there’s just no way Bayern Munich can get away with not buying another central midfielder this summer.
Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka are world class. No doubt about it. But after that things get a little concerning. And that worrying lack of genuine depth is only going to get worse next season.
✖️ Javi Martinez is leaving
✖️ Marc Roca isn’t good enough
✖️ Tiago Dantas hasn’t made a great impression
✖️ Corentin Tolisso is unreliable due to injuries and may end up leaving this summer.
Another issue is David Alaba leaving.

Hansi Flick has often turned to him to fill in mid-game if Kimmich or Goretzka have had to go off injured. He’s even started a few games at CM. But he’s leaving too.
It’ll be interesting to see how Julian Nagelsmann uses Tanguy Nianzou next season. If he can stay fit, he can play as a DM as well as a CB. Could end up being quite important if no new signings are made.
So it’ll be interesting to watch this summer.

Most reports in Germany are suggesting that Bayern have already blown their budget on Dayot Upamecano and the compensation for Nagelsmann. But it just feels like they *need* another proven CM. Which won’t be cheap.
