UGH I am so frustrated. Back in December, I decided to buy the new MacBook Pro with the M1 chip from @BestBuyCanada. We were locked down at the time so it was all curbside. I specified I was looking for the M1 like, multiple times. The guy was even like, "yah the M1 is great". /1
Fast forward to today: I try to install software that *only* works with the M1 chip, and it says that my computer isn't compatible. I open up "About this Mac" and sure enough, it's this computer has an intel chip. NOT THE M1. @BestBuyCanada sold me the wrong computer. /2
Now, sure. I could have noticed this earlier, but really, I have never gotten home from buying a computer and been like, "Oh, better open the system profiler and make sure that the processor is the one I asked for!" /3
The receipt just has the model number, nothing about the processor. So basically, I spent a lot of money and got a product that was not the one that I wanted, and now I can't load the software I need onto it, all because @BestBuyCanada did not give me the computer I asked for. /4
I wish I'd noticed within the 30 day return window, oh believe me I did, because, y'know, a MacBook Pro isn't exactly a *small purchase*. But here we are. In April. With me not able to load the software I want. Because @BestBuyCanada didn't give me what I thought I was buying. /5
It's been like... 4 1/2 months so I have no idea what I can even do about this. But I am *not* happy and you better believe I will be buying direct from @Apple when I'm next in the market for a laptop, because wow. /end rant
OH ONE MORE THING. @BestBuyCanada upsold me on the hard drive. They told me they only had the 512GB in stock. So they SOLD ME A MORE EXPENSIVE VERSION OF THE WRONG PROCESSOR, TOO. I am fuming mad. /end again
