About the name Kashmir..
On first day after Passing of Kartika Month.
The water (KA) from the valley was taken out by Lord Balrama hence the valley was also called Kashmir.

Goddess Uma is the main diety of the valley and known as Goddess Kashmira as well and hence the valley is also named Kashmir after the name of Goddess.
This is the 10th century Idol ( Bronze inlaid with silver) of Goddess Kashmira whose temple was destroyed by some Je#@dis.
