Trying to get back into Japan tomorrow. The adventure thus far in a thread...

This is a very overwhelming process. The Facebook group Return To Japan Support Group has been a massive help. There’s so much info and updates.

In my area of America nobody is really able to promise a speedy PCR test result. Most places will say you can’t expedite the results and tell you 2-3 days. In my experience, the results took 24-48 hours.

Because I couldn’t guarantee a result in time, I took more than one test at more than one place and crossed my fingers that at least one would come back in enough time. Both did. One was $129, one was completely free.

Both tests have come back now and I decided to get both places to do the MOFA form because why not I’m nervous for tomorrow, but seeing as I have both a saliva test AND nasopharyngeal RT-PCR saying I’m negative, I think I can board the plane just fine.

My next adventure is testing negative again after landing at Narita Saturday afternoon.

Just landed in Japan. I’m going to go see if they actually let me in the country now

Alsooooo, FYI, they wouldn’t even let me board in America without showing my zairyu card. So even if you’re standing in another country trying to board a flight to Japan, that’s a good thing to have out just in case

They aren’t even just letting you deplane like normal, they’re calling passengers off the plane based on their final destinations. I’ve just accepted that I’ll be sitting here for a while.

Now I’m just standing in a small space with at least 20 other people waiting to be allowed to move

Lololol so I’m being forcibly quarantined in a hotel by the government

They got me on a plastic covered quarantine bus and everything. No, I’m not COVID positive... I’m coming from Tennessee. No, being fully vaccinated doesn’t matter, I came from Tennessee so I’m on the special quarantine bus and under government mandated quarantine in the hotel

So uuuuh, I guess this thread just drastically changed direction. Let me back track when I get to my assigned room.
