I apologize for entering the discourse, but I wrote about universities and cancel culture and how stories like this absolutely spin out of control https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2021/04/how-a-reply-all-email-became-ground-zero-for-the-cancel-culture-wars
The students involved in this story reached out to me after they'd tried contacting every media outlet they could find because absolutely no one was centering their experiences. It was all just about the hurt feelings of a white man. https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2021/04/how-a-reply-all-email-became-ground-zero-for-the-cancel-culture-wars
State legislators were and still are actively spreading falsehoods and misinformation about students of color all to promote a false cancel culture agenda that promotes free speech for some, but not all https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2021/04/how-a-reply-all-email-became-ground-zero-for-the-cancel-culture-wars
And congratulations to the state rep who hung up on me when I asked him why he was spreading falsehoods about students of color https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2021/04/how-a-reply-all-email-became-ground-zero-for-the-cancel-culture-wars
Also in some ways this is a "problem with local media" story. Because when you don't have a lot of outlets and everyone is promoting the same false narrative the truth is hard to get out. https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2021/04/how-a-reply-all-email-became-ground-zero-for-the-cancel-culture-wars
