india is currently suffering due to a huge wave of new coronavirus cases. according to reports, india's covid death toll has surpassed 200,000 and has put a strain on healthcare facilities. however, the amount of graves and bodies in crematoriums suggests that this number might
be much higher. there was a post i remember seeing about how covid started off as a first world problem caused by those countries however as those countries now have the resources to get their populations vaccinated, it will result in covid largely affecting countries without
access to the vaccine. that’s what is currently happening. while countries like the us and china are getting vaccinated, india is suffering from a spike that has left hospitals unable to help everyone who is sick. mass cremations are taking place even for those who do not want
to be cremated and the rituals that would typically take place are not happening because it is not possible and/or convenient. hospitals don’t have enough beds for patients or enough resources to take care of their patients.
i will be linking threads and fundraisers below. keep in mind that due to differences in currency, even the smallest donation can make a huge difference.
