This biggest takeaway I want people to receive from today's podcast episode:

Black women should not have to explain themselves in order to gain respect/understanding; expectations projected on us & to always be *on*; and that we are MORE than what we can do for people.
I'm super grateful to have had this conversation with my girl @Devin_Eleven. Being two confident Black women in fields that somewhat force us to show up as the best version of ourselves, we really want people to understand that WE are people, too.
WE have needs as well. WE have personal lives to nurture along with making the time to nurture ourselves.
So many people underestimate/don't even realize how often they ask Black women to show up and save the day.
The question I have is... who's making sure that we're good? Who's checking on us? Can we show up for ourselves first? Can we take a moment to show up only for ourselves for once?

We can't always carry the weight.
Black women should be allowed to experience their breaking points and communicate when we need a moment to woosah. We shouldn't be made to feel guilty for needing the space and opportunity to FEEL, nor should we compromise for others.
Our people go through a lot as is... We need to be able to check out & check in when needed JUST like the next person.
Can we fix it? Yes, we can. But are we Bob the Builder? HELL NO.
With that being said...

My episode with Devin goes live at 3 PM. Get ready.
