Stop buying GOP framing on what "America is a racist country" means. They want you to think it means every white person is racist. That's silly & foolish.

We're speaking about the issues of systemic racism that continue to undermine justice for BIPOC in America

Short thread

/1
Let's talk about healthcare.

When the Black maternal mortality rate is 300% of white women, that's systemic racism in America.

When the Black & Indigenous infant mortality rate is 200% of white babies, that's systemic racism in America.

/2
Let's talk about criminal justice.

When Black Americans are 6X more likely to get stopped by police than whites—that's systemic racism

When whites are 2.1X more likely than Black people to be armed—yet Police are 3.2X more likely to kill Black people—that's systemic racism

/3
Let's talk about wealth inequality.

The median wealth of a white family is $147,000

The media wealth of a Black family is $3,600

This is the legacy of Jim Crow and red-lining—deliberate policies to deny Black Americans economic justice. That's systemic racism.

/4
Let's talk about education.

Annually, non-white school districts receive $23 billion less than white school districts, despite serving the same number of students. Now multiply $23B by the last 40 years. That's nearly $1T less for BIPOC students. That's systemic racism.

/5
This is by no means exhaustive. "America is a racist country," points to the FACTS that too many current institutions still deny BIPOC equal & equitable justice.

Read The Fire Next Time, The New Jim Crow, Stamped From The Beginning, & more to truly grasp these realities.

Reject GOP framing on racism & instead work to stop the systemic injustices repulsive to our founding promise of equal justice
