I'm totally stunned that LA might move into the yellow tier next week. LOS ANGELES. WHERE EVERYTHING WAS V TERRIBLE LIKE THREE MONTHS AGO. WILL BE ALMOST FULLY OPEN.
CA counties have to meet certain criteria to move into less restrictive reopening tiers, which allow for more things to be open. LA's numbers have dropped so steeply that we're poised to enter the least restrictive tier as early as next week
so far, the only counties that have gotten to the yellow tier are Alpine, Sierra, Lassen and Mendocino, which are all tiny counties and never experienced anything like what LA did in terms of COVID surges
but as of this week, LA, SF and Marin and Trinity are all looking like they might also enter the yellow tier pretty soon

in the yellow tier, bars can open indoors; outdoor gatherings can include as many as 100 people; hair salons, retail, museums can all operate at 100% capacity
churches, movie theaters, restaurants, gyms and wineries are allowed to reach 50% capacity indoors, and everything else that's already open basically gets to increase the number of people allowed in that space
this is a giant step and would be the most normal everything has felt in a long time! like in more than a year

probably important to note that LA County officials think that 5/8 Angelenos are protected from COVID either from infection or vaccination

still, I sort of feel like😬
