Help me think this through #Seattle. My recollection is that one of the justifications for building the 99 tunnel was to help a hypothetical maritime industry truck get from Ballard to Harbor Island. So, this morning I took it on my route from Colman Dock to Ballard to try that
It dumps you out at Mercer. You have to craw along Mercer for a mile and a half. On Tuesday I just took Alaskan to Elliott and even with a train crossing delay, that was faster. Am I taking crazy pills? Was there an argument made about helping this hypothetical maritime truck?
And if yes, how does the tunnel actually help that truck get from Ballard to Harbor Island? Is the tunnel, even with Mercer, actually faster than just cruising down the waterfront?
