All right, it's time for the CivWar 2.0 refresher thread brought on, as usual, by the the 'how you gonna fight the feds with an AR' clowns. Blame @UsagikoNat for this one since she brought them into my timeline this morning. 1/

First off, take all your grand ideas about all the shiny pretty assets the feds have and throw them out the window. Reaper drones, A10s, Apaches, Abrams? All kind of worthless until late stage when there's actual troop concentrations. 2/

At that point, the feds have already lost. Again, for the umpty-millionth time, the relevant model is not CivWar I, Afghanistan, Iraq, or Vietnam. The relevant model is Northern Ireland and the Troubles except we're gonna do it up extra-special because AMERICA, FUCK YEAH! 3/

I mean, duh, nobody's going to have to travel the world making arms deals with whack-job dictators and commies. We've already got all the guns, know-how, and raw material we need for happy fun times right here without getting anybody else involved. 4/

So what does CW2.0 look like? It looks a lot like exploding UPS trucks at federal buildings. ANFO is cheap, and the UPS truck shows up every day, right? Load up a shitton of Amazon boxes full of ANFO on a stolen UPS truck and let's GO. 5/

It looks like your neighbor Bob, down the street, who works for the FBI in some capacity (you're not exactly sure what) going to Starbucks before work. Except instead of a grande latte, one day Bob gets a mag dump of 9mm in the back of the head in the drive-thru. 6/

It means the lead truck driver in a National Guard convoy looks to the side for a second and looks back at the road just in time to catch a faceful of homebrew 2.75 rockets from the bed of a pickup truck. (Protip: KNO3 and sugar) 7/

It means .gov officials and .mil officers getting texted pictures of their kid's schools and their wives grocery shopping with the unspoken threat left as an exercise for the recipient. 8/

It means no-knock raids at 2 am in the suburbs for a "person of interest" get met with full-auto gunfire and grenades. It means all this and more, and it will last for a generation. 9/

Also realize that all of this will be streamed live on the internet in full HD video, for good or ill. Every atrocity, no matter which side committed it, will be going out within seconds after it happens. There's not going to be any way to keep it all under wraps. 10/

But sure, think all those tanks and planes and missiles will help out for this. Think some doofus with an AR taking a couple potshots at .gov assets every hour of every day in every city in the country won't matter. Be the in this discussion. 11/

One of the oldest rules in the book? Do not call up that which you cannot put down. CW2.0 will suck for everybody, everywhere. If it goes full-on sideways, remember that some of us looked ahead and warned you and y'all didn't listen. /FIN
