Hindu temples in India have been providing hospital beds, oxygen tanks and concentrators, food, water, personal protection equipment, COVID-19 essential kits, and even shelter to ANYONE regardless of their religion. (2/n)
BAPS Swaminarayan Temple converted its religious building into a COVID-19 facility with 500 beds, oxygen facilities (including liquid oxygen tanks and piped oxygen lines), ICU beds, and ventilators. (3/n)
Pawandham Temple in Mumbai converted its 4-story building into a COVID-19 quarantine center equipped with 100 beds. They have oxygen concentrator units, oximeters, pulse meters, blood pressure machines, monitor machine, and other medical equipment. Doctors are also staffed (4/n)
Hindu temples in countries like the USA and UK have been mobilizing by doing vaccine drives at their premise. This especially helps underserved populations. In just ONE temple alone, such as the BAPS North Etobicoke, about 15,000 people were vaccinated. (5/n)
Hindu organizations such as Sewa International have been working worldwide in order to serve folks regardless of their religion or race. Sewa has been providing oxygen concentrators, cylinders, and various CPAP machines, oximeters, food, water, sanitizer, PPE, sanitary products,
and other necessary supplies. They have especially been serving orphanages, old-age homes, and hospitals in order to help the most underserved populations. (7/n)
There is more awesome work that temples have been doing that simply cannot be covered in one thread. Most Hindu temples have been serving food and water to everyone (as per usual) since they believe in the concept of "seva." (8/n)
