3/ 0 km, month 0: @vanmoof S2 picked up from #London store in @7DialsLondon #excited
4/ 78 km, month 1: @vanmoof S2 on the closed #HammersmithBridge. @tfl, @MayorofLondon, @grantshapps, @LBHF, @LBRUT isnā€™t it time this was fixed? Got a #like from @vanmoof founder @TacoCarlier on @instagram šŸ˜
5/ 266 km, month 1: 1st visit to @vanmoof #London store to get a wobbly front wheel looked at
6/ 818 km, month 2: 2nd visit to @vanmoof #London store. Plastic rear chain protector fell off while cycling
7/ 2258 km, month 9: 3rd visit to @vanmoof #London store. Vibration on front wheel, plastic rear chain protector off (again), chain keeps coming off while cycling. Paid full service of bike.
8/ 3790 km, month 9: 4th visit to @vanmoof #London store. Motor turns off while riding and bike restarts while riding - #dangerous! Err 29 shows (remember this!). Plus speed shown is clearly wrong. Fix: new motor on bike.
9/ Note from @vanmoof bike doctor: ā€œHeadset also adjusted as was over tightened and will need to be replaced at the next general/full serviceā€ - could only have been @vanmoof servicing
10/ 3890 km, month 9: 5th visit to @vanmoof #London store. Same motor/speedometer/Err 29 issues. Fix: new motor (2nd!) on bike.
11/ 4105 km, month 10: 6th visit to @vanmoof #London store. Same motor/speedometer/Err 29 issues. Fix: Bike stripped down and rebuilt. Exterior cables not neatly installed (no photograph unfortunately), but bike accepted due to incoming #covid.
12/ ?? km (the odometer in the @vanmoof app keeps randomly resetting, I finally give up trying to calculate the true distance since the start), month 10: @BorisJohnson: ā€œFrom this evening I must give the British people a very simple instruction - you must stay at home.ā€
13/ ?? km, month 12: 7th visit to @vanmoof #London store. Same motor/speedometer/Err 29 issues. Will need to wait for parts, thankfully get a @vanmoof loaner bike
14/ ?? km, month 14: 8th visit to @vanmoof #London store. Waited for 2 months for parts. Fix: smart cartridge replaced
15/ I notice that the new @vanmoof smart cartridge has alpha v1.7 software? The speed is stuck in km/h. Every time opening the @vanmoof app it tells me to update to v1.6, fails as a lower version. Call support, they recommend waiting until the next time I am in the #London store
16/ ?? km, month 15: While in @theroyalparks #hydepark @vanmoof bike refuses to unlock. Handle bar PIN entry not working. @apple iPhone not connecting via #bluetooth. Required multiple resets with a pen - thankfully in my bag. Still - there are worst places to get stuck.
17/ ?? km, month 18: 9th visit to @vanmoof #London store. Saddle suddenly broke while cycling - #dangerous! @vanmoof store put the X2 saddle into my S2. They then spend an hour trying to get it out again. Metal on metal has never sounded so painful! šŸ˜©
18/ I notice @vanmoof left out the rubber protector. Not too worried - I know Iā€™ll be back to the #London store soon, no doubt. #unreliable
19/ ?? km, month 19: Sudden email from @vanmoof enforcing country speed limits. A forced update. Removes the ability to cycle normally under the legal limit (level 2), but still have the boost if needed to get away from #aggressivedrivers šŸš²šŸš—. This firmware update works
20/ ?? km, month 23: Starting to use my @vanmoof bike more as #lockdown reduces. Same motor/speedometer/Err 29 issues. Call @vanmoof, booked in for service, request loaner bike with pannier.
21/ ?? km, month 24: 10th visit to @vanmoof #London store. No loan bike available. Finally a beat up Smart bike is found with no pannier. Need to leave belongings in #store. Store assistant has no idea how to use the features. Need to be in meetings, so have to leave with this it
22/ ?? km, month 24: 11th visit to @vanmoof #London store. Fix: new battery, bell button and cables. Apparently the Err 29 fix is a new battery. Why has it taken so long @vanmoof to do this?
23/ ?? km, month 24: Unprotected wires on the front of my @vanmoof S2 after the service. It was not like this before. Told this is the correct repair method. #surelynot šŸ¤”
24/ ?? km, month 24: Told by @vanmoof #London store now out of warranty, on my own to fix this bike šŸ˜„. This @vanmoof has spent most of its life in the #London store being fixed or sitting unused due to #covid #stayathome Probably the most unreliable object I have ever seen.
25/ @vanmoof @TacoCarlier to summarise, my experiences of owning my @vanmoof S2 have not been great! Unreliable bike, brand store unable to fix recurring issues, left stranded when bike refuses to unlock and now out of warranty. /end
