Very excited today: @zombiesrungame is beginning the release of "Jack and Eugene& #39;s World Tour", the return of the two characters I created for the game. I& #39;m really proud of these scripts, and it& #39;s been utter joy getting back to working with @rhysjenn and @nathanljnolan again.
On top of all that, this first episode is something extra special - it& #39;s a work of experimental narrative form I& #39;ve been toying with for a while, and I& #39;m really curious to see what people think.
We& #39;re calling it "Ambient Radio", and it& #39;s designed to accompany you while you relax, work, or undertake any other mindful activity. In short, it& #39;s a hand-crafted narrative white noise track.
A usual ZR episode is made up of several short scenes separated by music from your playlist. Ambient Radio is one long scene. You hear the ambient noise of the environment throughout, with story beats occurring in real time as you and the characters co-exist in the space.
It& #39;s a slow, relaxed experience, and I hope you find it a cosy one. Our aim was to give you the same help with your focus that you& #39;d get from a noise generator or lofi beats - but with our characteristic level of polish and rich story.
We& #39;ve kept the story very light-touch; only about 5% of the run time features dialogue. But I hope our work to create a coherent audio setting - and to keep the characters feeling present throughout - will allow you to immerse fully in the world, even when no-one& #39;s talking.
So - go check it out! Spend an hour with Jack and Eugene while they putter about in the Channel in their little boat, making cups of tea and making repairs to their radio. I can& #39;t wait to hear your thoughts, and let @zombiesrungame know if you want more!
