Politics ultimately boil down to a simple question: can this entity / person / nation / govt be trusted and what is the extent of that trust?
It is not a scientific question. Therefore politics is not science. It is not objective per se.

A lot of stupid disputes on this platform ultimately stem from people's lack of understanding of this basic fact. They are not arguing about things that 1) CAN be proven, or 2) they are willing to put stakes on if proven either way. Thus 99% of the arguments here are pointlyess.

A lot of people here want to confuse you with their opinions which they try to conflate with facts or insights, which they are not. This applies to both named and unnamed, pundits and ordinary users.

They may use a lot of citations, numbers, "evidence" etc, but in the end what they say boil down to "trust me because reasons". Which is utterly pointless.
