Every time I add to this thread somebody tells me that this message is polarizing and unpopular with suburban centrist voters, which is a) missing the point in the most dramatic possible fashion; and b) pretty funny.

"'Defund the police' is a terrible slogan" is a terrible slogan.

Centrists should stop using it because it's really confusing and scary to police abolitionists, and could turn them off, threatening Democrat's chances in the midterms.

Just some political strategy advice.
