Today the paperback of A Clock of Stars is out so I’m going to say some things about it… I hope that’s okay. If it’s not, please keep scrolling!
This is where I found the idea for A Clock of Stars. Look at all that GREEEEEEEN.
The adventure begins when a little girl trespasses into an overgrown garden...
And that overgrown garden is based on this place. (It’s looked after by @StaffsWildlife)

I was 12 when I first had the idea for this book. I scribbled down the story and read it to my long-suffering sisters. Here they are, suffering away.
Almost 20 years later, I’ve done a lot of rewriting. But the book is still about – and for – sisters.

Here's me ignoring my family on various holidays, while I work on A Clock of Stars. The "pose of the slug" is my fave writing position.
There are monsters in this book. And giant birds. And wicked would-be stepmothers. There is also the suggestion that we should question the things we're told & that we tell ourselves. Thank you @chrisriddell50 for the beautiful illustrations.
My lovely local bookshop has some copies of A Clock of Stars - signed by me & the brilliant Chris Riddell. If you’d like a signed paperback, you can buy one from @madhatterbook >>> 01993 822539
