ppl that think criticism of conventionally attractive videogame women is an attack on their self-worth and identity need to do some self examining
so these people can mostly be split into three groups: cis women who have usually experienced some kind of bullying from 'not like other girls' women, queer people (usually trans ppl) that identify with femininity, and cishet straight men that think its censorship.
im going to go ahead and ignore the last group bc i dont know how to address their issue but for the first two groups i would first ask you to consider who is making the criticism. is it coming from another cis woman or queer person? then theyre probably on your side
if its coming from a cis man then you can choose to check if they have a history of being antagonistic to women and queer people or not but honestly it is a lot of work and if theyre decent people theyll probably understand if you dont want to do that work lol
from there i would like to ask you to understand that asking for representation of different types of femininity does not diminish the femininity that you identify with. what people are asking for is variety, not uniformity in the other direction.
it might also be best for you to not engage with the issue at all if it makes you uncomfortable--again, a decent person will understand if you have to block and mute their opinions for your mental wellbeing. it is a very personal issue that i dont expect this thread to solve lol
