Have you ever asked yourselves why men care about status? I have. I'm always cooking up theories. Women definitely had a status in the past for their reproductive labour, look at first human depictions. Men craved that status and created patriarchy? Marriage monogamy virginity https://twitter.com/phobefem/status/1387646807426142212
Before "private property" became a thing, bc humans were nomadic, it makes sense that men didn't bother about women's status. But when humans settled bc of their crops, men who were not connected to a woman by birth would starve, bc land belonged to women and their children
Why land belonged to women and their children? Bc women knew who they birthed. That's when women's reproductive labour became a source of envy for men. As a woman, you produce food, bc women created agriculture. Who can access this food? Women and men connected to these women
So the issue for men was how to become connected to women who are producing food and own land if we're not her brother, father, son? Marriage. Now we have access to the food women produce. But that wasn't enough. Men wanted to own land, too. But to own land, you need descendants
Notice that men didn't want to produce food. They just wanted to own land. When humans were nomadic, they didn't produce food. They took it from nature. Men wanted that back. The new issue was, how to own land? Monogamy and women's virginity. To ensure men knew their children.
Now that men could announce too that they produced descendants, they could claim land ownership. But that wasn't enough. They now needed to establish in ppl's minds that men's descendants were more important than women's descendants. So that land ownership would now be men's.
It could be said that all of this came from "fear of starving". But I'm guessing that women didn't actually forbid men from eating the food they produced. I think women produced food and were very pissed that men didn't help to produce food and still wanted to eat.
So that would be why men who were not connected to a woman could go starving, bc there was not a lot of food around, and they were not connected to a woman, and they refused to work the land bc they never needed to before, they just took it from nature. Patriarchy was created
For men who didn't want to work the land but wanted to feed on the land that have being used by women to produce food.

By the way, to this day, most ppl still working the land are still women. I guess that being able to gestate makes women fearless of labour.
