Get in losers, we're going to go through Jokic's 16 points and 2 assists in the 3rd quarter against the Pelicans because WOW was Jokic good.
What better way to start a wildly productive 3rd quarter than letting Michael Porter Jr. hit an incredibly difficult 3?

Porter's balance, coordination and shooting touch from deep at his size is so rare.

Also, this is an offensive foul lol.
Then Jokic began to take over starting with his own 6-0 run.

His first bucket was just a beauty of a face-up jumper in the mid-post after a jab step.

Jokic was playing as if Willy Hernangomez did not exist. Everything was as if it was in an empty gym.
Basketball is not supposed to look this easy. Willy Hernangomez is 6'11 & 250lbs yet Jokic walked to the rim as if Hernangomez was not there.

Another more important note is how threatening Jokic's 3pt shot is to opponents now. It is giving him a lot more room to drive.
Two shots later, Jokic goes back to the pump fake at the top of the key against Hernangomez & sets up like he will drive right again, but goes left.

Since Jokic went right & beat him last time, he was able to set him up to create space before even putting the ball on the floor.
Another note on this possession: look at how subtle Jokic's move is.

If you look closely, you'll see him basically toe tap with his right foot to make it look like hes going that way. The second Hernanagomez is leaning, it's over. https://twitter.com/TJMcBrideNBA/status/1387634663917826048?s=20
Jokic plays at his own speed and it throws off every defender around him at times.

This is Jokic moving fast to make his move, but when he stretches out his strides before finishing, its like time stands still just long enough for Jokic to take advantage and find space.
Just watch Willy Hernangomez's reaction after he gets cooked. That is all the caption you need.
From here, the bench unit is beginning to check in making this a crucial stretch. Giving the reserves as much breathing room as possible is the best thing the starters can do at the end of the 3rd.

So Jokic does the MVP thing and steps into a huge triple of course.
For Jokic's final trick of the 3rd quarter, he goes to the 5/4 pick and roll with Millsap.

At this point, Jokic is destroying worlds so both Zion & Hernangomez are focused on him making its simple for Millsap to slip the screen to give Denver a 10-point lead.
If there is one big takeaway from this thread, it's Jokic's ability to completely control a game even if Denver is banged up.

His ability to manipulate a defense based off his own gravity and knowing how defenses will react to cutters/shooters means he can always dominate.
