That demand for "positive" news only is an insult to those who have died needlessly, lacking basic care because the System didn't prepare.

And it is actively dangerous. The looming 2021 surge was ignored because a complicit media gave his corrupt System an uncritical free pass.

When you are asked to look away from the enormous, heart-wrenching human toll of this disaster, understand that many of these deaths were not inevitable. Demand accountability. +

+ Because asking tough questions, demanding that institutions work, that Indian healthcare be given the resources it needs to cope with a deadly pandemic.

Firing politicians who refuse to heed experts, who only care about image management can be life-saving.

Don't look away.

+ On the independent media. It exists; they are targetted by media handlers for being "negative" or "anti-national" etc.

The message since 2014: don't criticize the government, the party or the Leader.

But that criticism and independence is as lifesaving as medical care.

+ By all means, share hopeful news with Covid patients and their families.

But shine a fierce light on everything else. The human cost. The grievous lack of planning. The callousness. This surge is not the last. The only way to save lives is by demanding more answers — not less.
