WAKE ME UP WAKE ME UP WAKE ME UP WAKE ME UP
you know your video definitely isn't a shallow promotional ploy when you spend 30 minutes talking about the problems of reason in modern society and the most recent philosopher you bring up is aristotle
"what if, sometimes, regular people were randomly selected to go on an educational course so that they can give politicians a recommendation on which policies they would prefer"

these are the kinds of visionary ideas this planet needs
yeah dude if we let average people have a say in political decisions we won't have to worry about them being motivated by power or money, because average people don't have to worry about those things and political decisions have nothing to do with our relationship to those things
as someone who really does value a lot of michael's work there's a lot of things about this video that baffle me, but the winner is without a doubt this "history is the great teacher" ending that skirts around the fact the video brings up very little actual history
I feel like most of these were fairly self-explanatory but want to clarify this one. I'm not suggesting michael isn't aware of these things, I'm highlighting how being made to acknowledge them would have forced him into a material analysis https://twitter.com/lackingsaint/status/1387574214761369605
this is my core issue with the video. it is an analysis exclusive to a highly specific, primarily western view of the world in which money and power are mere speedbumps to "rationally" solving problems which in fact require tackling the nature of that power and its history
