study tips for people with restrictive eds from a straight A student with a restrictive ed! a thread ✰ ࿐ ྂ
i hope this thread helps you and makes studying a bit easier ! i will share what i did and what personally helped me to get my grades up. so disclaimer!! it may not work for everyone. this thread can also help ppl with eds who don't have a restrictive type.
my experience has only been studying with a restrictive ed so i don't want to speak for anyone with an ed which isn't a restrictive one
1. preparation
i usually start studying a week or two before the test/exam to prepare myself, depending on how hard I think it'll be. so first ask yourself "how much did i understand this subject?" then you can estimate the time you'll need to study

2. restriction
i recommend not fasting or low restricting while studying and on the day of the test. i usually high restrict and it helps me not to think about food much. i also recommend having small snacks with you while studying. that could be blueberries, walnuts, almonds, etc.

the snacks are optional tho. but what i think is a must is water. have a water bottle with you while studying
3. clean work space
this is so important to me. i personally can't focus if my work space is not clean. i know finding motivation to clean can be very hard but try to at least have a clean desk to work on

4. music
i listen to music while studying. this isn't something for everyone since not everyone focus with music. but if you're going to listen to music i recommend lofi because it's very soft, quiet and you can't just sing your heart out to it hehe. it also won't distract you

5. concentration
for me concentrating can be very hard, especially because of my ed. so i tell myself to at least concentrate for 10mins. once im in this working head space it really gets me going and i don't look at the time anymore.

social media and our phones in general can be a huge indicator for distractions. so put your phone on do not disturb, airplane mode, go in a voice chat for studying, turn your phone off, etc. there are many options and only you can decide which one works for you
i personally put my phone on silent and put in on my desk upside down to keep me from checking it
6. motivation
many of us lack the motivation to start studying. you could
6.1. join a study group. i for example made an edtwt studying discord that i will put at the end of the thread that you can join if you'd like
6.2. set yourself goals.
have a clear vision of

6.2. set yourself goals.
have a clear vision of
the goals you want to achieve. but don't make the goals too high for yourself. see it in a realistic way. your first goal could be studying for 30mins for a day. you could always up that time. take your time and don't push yourself! that's very important. small steps will
eventually get you to your goals, just be patient and consistent.
6.3. watch study vloggers
there are many study vloggers who make studying look aesthetic and it usually motivates me

i really would like to say that no matter what the end result of for example an exam is, you tried your best and im very proud of you. studying with any type of ed can be very hard for many reasons. you're doing amazing!!
7. notes
there are many ways to study. i love making mind maps and writing everything down multiple times. i study in different ways depending on the subject. i could make a whole new thread for different study ways. so I'd say, look into it and find what's best for you
