Guys we gotta start picking up on a few basic words that pedo/incest shippers and racists etc use in their posts (continued →)

• “minors are assholes” with no mention of what the original event is/“being a minor doesn’t excuse you from...”

• blaming everything on “westerners” and “cultural imperialism”

• “purity politics” and excessive talking about “villains”, “redemption arcs”, “messy characters”

I’ve seen especially recently people getting mad at “westerners taking a word from a different language and twisting the meaning”.

I can understand wanting to get angry at white people and cultural appropriation, but before we rt angry posts, we need to understand context

just doing a little more digging (into the replies or maybe Google) can show the real reason for this is people wanting to ship adopted brothers by saying its “sworn brothers”... or in another case it’s certain people getting mad at the term “doujin” for its association w yaoi

but in any case just think to yourself – have any of your actual friends put this sort of discourse on your tl? is this really an issue you need to spread awareness about, or is this something that seemed like an issue because it had a lot of rts and used some inflammatory words?

overall, I know it can be difficult when you have a good heart and especially when your first language isn’t English. people who support pedo, incest shipping, racism etc are not nice people – they will use words that make them seem like they’re on the side of justice

they will try to make it seem like people are attacking them for no reason, but when you look for the reason, you’ll see why it’s bad.

let’s just try our best to keep things like this in mind ( ´__｀;;) always check for context, and be sceptical of people who claim to be right
