when you cast a famously beautiful, thin actress in a role that requires a larger body and then you put her in a fat suit instead of casting an actress OF THAT SIZE, what you're doing is reassuring a fatphobic audience, "you're safe, it's okay, there are no REAL fat people here"
you're leaving them an escape hatch where they still don't have to take a fat woman seriously, because fatness is a costume she takes on and off, like a wig or a prosthetic

don't worry! underneath, she's still hot! the natural order of society has been preserved!
Sarah Paulson is one of my forever faves and I'm just really disappointed that she said yes to this
for everyone asking which role i'm talking about https://twitter.com/lolacoaster/status/1387531319517745154?s=20
fat actresses NEVER get opportunities like this unless either A) it's a role ABOUT fatness, which is gross, or B) they've somehow managed to accrue enough Hollywood power to produce their own shit and give themselves decent roles, which is WILDLY rare https://twitter.com/MelodyyHampton/status/1387541300476477443?s=20
Ryan Murphy makes some very enjoyable television but there's a bigger conversation here about gay men's aesthetic ideals for women and how few plus-sized women he's EVER cast in anything that I can think of

he chose stunt casting over allyship and that super sucks
Bodies aren't costumes.

I can't tell you how traumatizing it is to imagine some thin rich celebrity sighing with relief in her trailer because she gets to take off my body at the end of the day and go back to being a size 2.
and Hollywood is BARELY willing to acknowledge that oh hey maybe we should stop casting white people as nonwhite people, so like

what chance do fat actors, trans actors, disabled actors have when people who aren't us keep winning awards for playing us
praising Sarah Paulson for "rising to the challenge" of playing a fat person is exactly the kind of shit that makes me wish I'd turned off comments on this thread like I usually do when I tweet about fat politics https://twitter.com/Nora12157957/status/1387541588537225218?s=20
