It’s time for me to tell my story of how I was in a “cult” at Bethany Church in Baton Rouge, LA. Y’all I’m thinking about some of the ridiculous things I experienced in 220/220i from 16-23
-you couldn’t have seconds if they had free food at the church because it wasn’t lady like
-you couldn’t have seconds if they had free food at the church because it wasn’t lady like
you couldn’t talk to boys or have guy friends and vice versa Bc you would slip into perversion, they had to approve everything you did, you couldn’t make a decision without them school, where you work, etc , you couldn’t be in a sorority or fraternity
you couldn’t listen to rap music ,in the internship your house mom had to check what you ate weekly ,you had to run around the north campus if you didn’t read your Bible
you had to write “whities” if you messed up or forgot to do something - whities could be an essay or lines where you’d write scripture over and over again, they would kick people out of the entire church and you couldn’t talk to them anymore , you had to wear make up and dress
Girly. They would check your phone and if you got kicked out nobody could talk to you i remember you had to invite people to church if you didn’t invite anyone you were looked down upon or you would get into trouble for not bringing anyone
I remember one time we got into a wreck and told the people don’t worry about it Bc we couldn’t be late for church.
we went through a hazing process
they blind folded us, took us through real life muddy trenches, made us eat MRE’s, slept in an open cabin with mosquitoes, had to do an obstacle course is the SUN on inflatables that were hot and burned your skin

you would get weighed in in front of others and be humiliated if you didn’t lose weight, they practically made me hang with white women to learn how to act

we had to share our deepest darkest secrets in a circle in front of 20+ women, you couldn’t opt out, if you were big you had to work out everyday of the week
you couldn’t ask question because you were in rebellion if you did you had to write scriptures over and over again.

They made me feel like wasn’t nothing. And used God to do so. I’m still in therapy because of my experience there. They would tell people if you were big God couldn’t use you
They preyed upon young kids. They would come to our high school and lure us in with pizza and donuts. It was so manipulative.
