The beauty behind
Ivy by Frank Ocean, A thread:

Rts appreciated
The beauty behind "Ivy" lies within it& #39;s nostalgic atmosphere used to illustrate the unforgettable moments associated with a first love.
It& #39;s a story about Frank looking back and reflecting on the mistakes he& #39;s made when he was younger and new to love.
The title "Ivy" refers to the invasive plant which is known for being poisonous. It represents how his relationship grew into something toxic for both of them.
The song starts off with one of the hardest hitting lyrics on Blonde, "I thought that I was dreamin& #39; when you said you love me."
This lyric combined with "the start of nothin& #39;, I had no chance to prepare" shows how Frank was blindly jumping into an ill-fated relationship he wasn& #39;t ready for.
Frank now understands the weight of his actions. He doesn& #39;t blame them for any hard feelings, " it& #39;s quite alright to hate me now"
Then he crys "We& #39;ll never be those kids again." It& #39;s heart crushing to know you can& #39;t go back in time to fix your mistakes.
