Tw // ableism
Relevant: autism should never be compared to a terminal illness and it& #39;s important to stand up for the rights of neurodivergent individuals who& #39;s autonomy is constantly under attack
Not relevant: "lol middle aged women are freaks"
Making fun of someone& #39;s writing for saying something ableist has the same relevance as attacking shitty people& #39;s looks. It& #39;s focusing on an unrelated trait that may be shared by the people they& #39;re harming while ignoring the actual harm they& #39;re doing for the sake of an easier shot
"Lol I always knew they were trash" really? You knew they said ableist shit? Feels like that should& #39;ve come up earlier then!
I& #39;m just extremely tired of actual harm being dismissed because it& #39;s easier to make fun of superficial or "cringe" elements.
Which is what neurodivergent folk get mocked for on a regular basis, so it doesn& #39;t feel helpful to say "well I only make fun of that if they suck". So we& #39;re really supposed to believe you& #39;re not itching to make fun of people in your community for the exact same reasons?
I could not care less about her self insert writing, and that feels like extremely shaky ground for a shipping community to be judging from. Address the issues with ableism and how those are hurting autistic people. Writing rpf is not that.
And for reference, I am neurodivergent but I don& #39;t owe you shit about my diagnoses, fuck off
Basically the reason for making this thread comes down to this: attacking people from a cringe culture standpoint only comes back to hurt neurodivergent fans.
