Today's shit-show in the Idaho House Ethics Committee was predictable, indeed, was practically expected. We cannot say "this is not who we are," because what happened (is happening) there today is exactly who Idaho is. 1/x

Representative democracy is working. Idaho remains chock full of people who think men who rape women "gave them what they deserved." Idaho is full of people who who will support their "side" no matter what the people on their side do. 2/x

Idaho also has people who don't blame victims, who don't attack young women who report crimes by powerful men, who understand that middle-aged legislators should NEVER try to "date" a 19-y-o legislative intern. 3/x

But those people are not hte majority in the Idaho Leg and I'm not sure they are even the majority of Idahoans. Idaho voters WANT their representatives to flout conventional mores, WANT them to demonstrate their power, WANT them to "own the libs," 4/x

and if "owning the libs" takes the form of shoving their dick in the mouth of a teenage girl, well, that's a might unseemly but still it's "for a good cause," proving the libs are weak and useless. This is Idaho in 2021, don't be confused. 5/x

The Idaho GOP has proven to the voters, OVER AND OVER AGAIN, that they are vulgar, power-hungry, dishonest, and criminal. And Idaho voters keep electing them. This is what the majority of the voters in Idaho WANT. 6/x

So, please let's not say "this isn't who we are." This is who and what Idaho has chosen, over and over again. Failure, bad judgment and even criminality are rewarded by the Idaho GOP, and if any of them cared, they'd quit the party after today's shitshow. How many will quit? 7/7.
