you know i studied politics formally for more than half a decade. worked in the field for around 4 years. the biggest lesson i learned is this: that the language of academia cannot be allowed to thrive in the field of politics bc it MUST be accessible to all.
because i believe that politics is important to be understood by everyone, i despise talking about it in political jargons. it breeds elitism and discourage the people from learning about it. so when i see political discourse caked in polysyllabic words, i think--
you approach politics as an armchair discussion and thought exercise and not a lens that enables you to understand the dynamics of power (and in turn, oppression).
