What if We’re Just Bubbles Living in a Bubble Bath?

⚡️Thread⚡️
What we’ll explore in this thread:

⁃What the multiverse theory is
⁃Atomist vs. Stoic thinking
⁃The scientific basis behind the multiverse theory

Let’s begin…
We’ve all had that feeling that we’re just a microscopic particle that’s part of something much bigger.

I mean, the diameter of the observable universe is 93 billion light years across.

So how can we even comprehend such a number?
In Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who, Horton discovers a tiny city living on a speck of dust.

To the residents’ surprise, there’s a whole new world outside of Who-Ville that they never knew existed.

Is it possible that there’s something much bigger outside of our own universe?
These questions lay the foundation for the multiverse theory.

The multiverse theory is a hypothetical argument for the existence of multiple universes outside of our own.

While the idea may sound like sci-fi, its core concept has actually been around for thousands of years.
As far back as 5th century B.C., Greek philosophers argued that
each time an atom collided with another, a new, and worse, universe was created in parallel with our own.

This way of thinking is referred to as atomism.
In contrast, Stoic philosophers argued that the universe is comprised of an eternal soul-like entity, which is responsible for the change and destruction we see around us.

Stoics believed the universe recycled itself anew over and over again, creating the divine world we see.
But is there any scientific basis behind the multiverse argument?

Physicist Brian Greene is a major proponent of the theory, dedicating his career to researching the possibility of parallel worlds.
Greene has even come to the conclusion that there are nine possible types of parallel universes. Some include:

⁃A cyclic multiverse
⁃A quilted multiverse
⁃A quantum multiverse
⁃A simulated multiverse
So where do we go from here?

Well, we may never know if we’re living in a multiverse or not.

But the theory could help explain why Earth and our universe are so fine-tuned for life.

Maybe we just got lucky. Although, I think this is very unlikely.
The picture below depicts part of a mouse brain on the left and a simulated model of the universe on the right.

I don’t know about you, but these images look strikingly similar at first glance.

And maybe that’s not a coincidence.
Could the multiverse theory be evidence that we’re living inside the mind of God?

Possibly.

Or who knows. Maybe our universe is just a tiny bubble living in a bubble bath.

Either way, thanks for reading.
