If you didn't know, the cryomancers being native to Edenia was a piece of hypothetical information added from the newest game in the reboot trilogy of MK games.

In Mortal Kombat (2011), the first of the reboot trilogy, Shao Kahn claims to have murdered Kitana’s father himself during Story Mode. later in Mortal Kombat 11 D’vorah claims to have done this during VS mode dialogue. (3/27)
