Seeing as it’s the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s 10th wedding anniversary tomorrow and I’m in the mood for a bit of frivolity and nostalgia, I thought it would be nice to revisit the style of the royal guests at their pre-wedding dinner!
The reception for royal guests was hosted by Lady Elizabeth Shakerley. Lady Elizabeth was a maternal cousin of The Queen with plenty of connections to other royal families, she was also a regular party planner for HM.

Lady Elizabeth passed away last year on 1st November 2020.
Of course, QEII attended the event.

It was lovely to see her in a colourful evening dress with lots of shimmer, as she’s gotten older HM has favoured white gowns for formal evening events.

I also love that’s she matched all her accessories, necklace included, to the print!
The Duchess of Cornwall didn’t stay for the whole event, which I’m guessing had something to do with why she didn’t go for a full length gown.

She looked lovely, a timeless dress, but it was a shame she missed a chance to wear a gown!
Princess Anne did not hold back that night, she looked absolutely fantastic in a form fitting gown.

Not something we’d normally expect from the Princess Royal but she really pulled it off!
Zara Phillips (she married Mike Tindall later that year) wasn’t quite as glam as her mother bus she came close!

Zara wore an elegant one sleeved, black gown. The real star of her look though was that hair!
Princess Beatrice went full Princess mode!

She looks fantastic but I do think the dress had perhaps a little too much sparkle, if that’s even possible!
Princess Eugenie kept things a bit more understated, wearing a simple black gown that showed off her figure to perfection!

Seeing these two looks form the York girls makes me puzzle even more over how they were able to get it quite so wrong the next day!
We got some of the best shots of the Sophie Wessex but unfortunately it was not one of her best looks.

I can’t get past the boob flaps myself. A shame because the colour is great on her & the necklace is wonderful.

She did break a rib not long beforehand though she gets a pass!
