Brief character analysis thread on Asta since I feel like he is misunderstood and many have asked me to do one. This is pretty short. I may do a follow-up later.... Here we go.
Depending on perspective Asta can be viewed as static and dynamic, I'll explain. Asta is static in the sense that his prime motivation is to protect at all costs, however, it has been shown he is willing to abandon everything at the cost of that. His own life, his humanity, and +
I believe he might be forced to abandon his goal of WK due to it being a surface level goal. He wanted to become wizard king simply to prove that a peasant could do it. He believes in equality, despite magic or place of birth. This goal was birthed, imo, out of the child-like+
want + desire of wanting to protect Sister/Yuno and Hage village. As he becomes older, it evolves as he becomes more aware of others' feelings, and he becomes the infallible rock for characters like Noelle and Yuno to undergo their development through. Yuno continues to evolve+
based on changes from his encounters with Asta and his unyielding drive.. Noelle has also undergone her extreme character changes based on her interactions with Asta's relentless nature and unmoving character.. Asta has a high capacity for understanding others' emotions..+
I believe this is why he learns Ki with ease.. he is in tune with energies around him.. Yami even states that Asta has done a form of Ki..Asta actually does this to a "fault".. he humanizes Vetto after their battle..and Patry after he kills Julius..however, these were born out+
of his desire for equality, no matter birth..while Asta is a battle genius, his prime motivation of protecting life and friends...has him abandons other important
things like...WK dying, his life, and his very humanity (despite just having a speech about how important it was)+
especially when Asta had no context to what more and more of a devil contract could bring.. the only real example at that point being Dante..who had basically lost his humanity.. this is why I believe while Asta's prime motivation to protect remains constant-- his goals will+
potentially change as he realizes that WK's influence is not as powerful as he once believed. This will lead to Asta soul searching esp. since his mentor will prob be gone, however, the majority of char. devo is driven through Asta as the steady unmoving rock for others.
And thus ends my #BlackClover thread on my perspective on Asta's character. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
