Rep @RepZoeLofgren will be pushing her Big Tech/India Green Card giveaway bill today in a virtual hearing. Happening now and you can watch it Live here:
. @RepMcClintock states there's no labor shortage. He is correctly talking about how H-1B and OPT are harming American workers and American college graduates.
. @RepJerryNadler is now talking about the "devastating" backlogs in family-based and employment-based immigration. He doesn't talk about how backlogs affect only a few countries - in the employment-based category, only India has a backlog. In the family-based, it's Mexico.
. @RepZoeLofgren is now introducing witnesses to testify:
David Bier - Cato Institute
John C. Yang - Asian Americans Advancing Justice
Pareen Mhatre - Daughter of H-1B workers from India
Robert Law - Center for Immigration Studies
John C. Yang: He believes there aren't enough Green Cards and that's why backlogs are piling up. He wants the number of Green Cards to go up. Wants to expand MORE immigration because the new Census shows that population is declining & more immigration will help.
David Bier: Talking about the huge backlogs for Indian nationals in the employment-based Green Card. Makes a false claim that those without college degrees can't come on work visas (H-2B/H-2A/J-1??). Wants congress to expand immigration so there's less illegal immigration.
Pareen Mhatre: Identifies as "documented DREAMERS". Speaking about how she is being aged out because she is a dependent on her parent's visa and they are stuck in a Green Card backlog.
Robert Law: "There are no jobs Americans won’t do. There are only wages and working conditions they
are not willing to accept for the work."

Cites Jordan Commission - the late Barbara Jordan (D-TX) report that wanted reduction in immigration numbers.
"We value diversity in our immigration. We don't want a few countries to monopolize all Green Cards. India is getting 25% of employment-based Green Cards."

Robert Law responding to @RepMcClintock on country caps.
"Legal immigration is important to our country but I'm more concerned about the border crisis. Democrats keep incentivizing illegal immigration by promising amnesty. In terms of legal immigration, we are a very generous country."

- @RepAndyBiggsAZ
. @RepJayapal discussing how she came on an F-1 visa with $5,000 given by her parents. She got her citizenship through marriage. She talks about how she wanted to sponsor her older parents to immigrate from India but decided not to.
"We have been giving out around 1M Green Cards each year. Contrary to what is said, immigration numbers did not decline under the Trump administration."

Robert Law responding to @chiproytx
. @RepLouCorrea "We are a country of immigrants. Immigrants left their home countries because their countries didn't want them."
????????????????
. @RepLouCorrea is horribly pushing the "labor shortage" myth and cites a lobbyist who reached out to him regarding a labor shortage at a "poultry farm". Then has David Bier support his claim that immigration does not harm American workers.
The Republican Reps have done a poor job in asking questions regarding LEGAL immigration. No questions about how American workers had to train their H-1B foreign replacements. Everything is about the border crisis. Meanwhile, the Democratic Reps have focused on selling H-1Bs.
Robert Law: "While there was bipartisan support on removing country caps in the House, the Senate realized it would create a train wreck to the legal immigration system. It would reward a system that displaced American workers. Congress created this mess with dual-intent."
David Bier: "We shouldn't be impressed by 1M people coming in. The idea that the US is letting an absurd number of people is nonsensical."
. @RepDeborahRoss: "I represent the Research Triangle (North Carolina) and we need these people."

. @RepEscobar: "We need immigrants to grow our economy."
