Every now and then I find a book that's a hidden gem. đź’Ž

A book filled with wisdom but unknown to most.

A recent hidden gem I found is "You're Too Good To Feel This Bad" by @FathersBrother.

Here are 10 key lessons from it...
1/ Get 8 Hours of Sleep

Proper sleep will:

-Improve your happiness
-Speed up recovery times
-Increase your memory and focus

Tips to sleep better:

-Cut out caffeine and alcohol
-Wake up and go to bed at set times
-Spend the last hour before bed without any electronic devices
2/ Breathe Better

You breathe 30,000 times a day so take a minute to learn how to do it better:

-Breathe into your diaphragm
-Practice taking calm, deep breathes
-Breathe through your nose, not your mouth

Nose breathing increases oxygen uptake 10-20% more than mouth breathing.
3/ Stay Hydrated

Drinking water and staying hydrated is crucial for feeling better.

-Men need about 3.7 liters of water per day
-Women need about 2.7 liters of water per day
-5 glasses of water a day reduces the risk of heart attack by 41%
4/ Better Inputs = Better Outputs

The foods you consume will determine your performance, therefore:

-Eat whole foods that aren't highly processed
-Limit sugar from your diet as much as possible
-If you can't pronounce the ingredients on a food label, don't buy it
5/ Think Positively, Live Positively

A positive life requires positive thoughts.

Try:

-Thinking about 3 things you're grateful for each day
-Replaying one of your favorite memories in your mind
-Picking one thing you're grateful for and thinking about it for 5 minutes
6/ You Are Your Only Competition

Comparison is the theft of joy.

And there are too many variables to truly compare the lives of two people anyway.

The only thing we should compare is where we are now and where we were last year.

That is the only comparison worth making.
7/ Forgive Others

Forgiveness is the greatest gift we can give ourselves.

Holding a grudge only hurts us and chips away at OUR happinesses.

Even if those around you don't deserve forgiveness, you deserve it.

YOU are the one who benefits most from practicing acts of mercy.
8/ Less Can Be More

The more things you own, the more things own you.

The first mistake is buying a thing you don't need. The second mistake is keeping it.

Spend some time this weekend cleaning your house and subtracting any items that aren't serving your life.
9/ Building Wealth 101

Building wealth is simple but not easy.

However, these tips will help:

- Don't spend more than you make
- Start a side hustle that can produce passive income
- Start investing as early as possible so compound interest can work its magic
10/ General Life Advice

-Be polite
-Don't lie
-Work hard
-Smile more
-Don't gossip
-Respect others
-Don't overreact
-Stop complaining
-Be a team player
-Help your friends out
-Clean up after yourself
-Respect people's space
-Don't spend more money than you make
