The Japanese box set for Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World is out, and I can confirm that the side flaps have little Ashas on them. This is highly pertinent.
The artbook is decent, but it's all art from the remake and not the original. But if you're after stuff from that 1994 game...
...there's a vintage comic by original artist @maki_ohzora! It's more like a mini-artbook instead of a full manga, and like all things Monster World IV, it's adorable.
Here's a nice detail: the front side of the box has the queen in her regular incarnation, but on the rear side obscured by the flap of the box, where you wouldn't normally think to look, there's a mild spoiler.
There's no manual, but I like how the genie is holding the cartridge.
Is this box set worth it? Well, it's just two books and a box, but it's also just the price of a new triple-A game. I'm a huge Monster World IV fan--it'd probably rank among my top ten favorite games--so that's an easy choice for me.
