Alright, we all know that it's possible and we might have to accept it. We are 49ers fans, after all. Fans of the uniform, and not the players first. Even though many love Fields/Lance, if it is Mac, we are gonna have to get behind him.

...But slow the frame or pause and look where the receiver is here, as his arm is all the way cocked back ready to come forward. He made his mind up a split second ago:

Again, if you pause it at just the right time you will see that the receiver is just beginning his break as Mac's arm is already beginning his release. So he can throw with anticipation. It's probably the best part of his game.

Jones manipulates defenders with his eyes and his body language. An advanced QB ability that is coveted by teams. His small pump fake here gets the safety to bite and puts the icing on the cake for his teammate's double move. Sets up an easy TD.

People often say "well who couldn't throw to those guys?" In some ways, there's a point to be made there. However, just like a player from a small school, we have to scout the player. Not the competition. Not their teammates. Nice dart between them

I think we should be fair. I didn't like everything I saw. I don't care for happy feet. Two hops. Like the DJ Casper slide and throws off his back foot. To no consequence here, and if it were an isolated incident it wouldn't be worth mentioning, but....

Happy feet again. An inaccurate off-balance throw almost leads to a turnover.

A theme I recognized is that sometimes when the protection breaks down, he loses his cool and rushes things. His footwork breaks down and sloppy throws or mistakes result. Many college QBs struggle with this though.

I really like his ball placement ability. He's often putting the ball in a spot that only his receiver can get to it. Over the second-level defenders, he's able to consistently drop it in on throws like this.

These throws on the move are not his forte. Our team likes to do this. It is concerning, considering who the 49ers could get with this pick

Compared to Fields and Lance, he's certainly much more dinosaur-like. Kyle likes dinosaurs though, and he's been playing with them for a long time

Ok but really Mac is not as much a dinosaur in the pocket as we have made him out to be. He does show the ability to navigate the pocket well and avoid pressure. He also processes very quickly on this play, which is another strong trait Kyle loves.

#49ers fans are already probably following @akashanav but if not, they should. As indicated, this is a quick read, and he's right on. As soon as the safety starts to come down he lets it rip and that is a really nice throw too.

Aside from health, does Mac give us more than Jimmy G is the question we need to be asking. Ultimately, that's why we moved up.
I think Fields gives us a lot Jimmy doesn't.
Jones, not a lot. I also think we lose some good things with that switch.

If it is Mac Jones, I'll be surprised. I'll be a little disappointed. But, I'll still be a #49ers fan. You will be too. Unless you never were to begin with.
