Interested in other people's thoughts on this - this is an artist with about 15K followers. I see they're trying to do good here - but this is a very dangerous narrative. Where do you draw the line? This person has ZERO qualifications re psychology/therapy/121 consultations 1/5
What you may know through your own lived experiences is completely subjective to you & you only. Yes others may relate, but it doesn't suddenly make you an expert on advising on MH issues. Your coping strategies may not work for others, in fact it may actually worsen their 2/5
situation. They may feel worthless that the said coping strategy is not effective for them. This is why people spend yrs & yrs qualifying in these fields, that's why qualifications exist. These buzz words like MH "mentor" "coach" are meaningless & dangerous. No one should 3/5
use someone else's vulnerabilities to benefit themselves, and line their pockets at other people's expense. You can't mess with mental health, sometimes, it is a matter of life or death. If you don't qualify for something, don't be a pretender 4/5
As much as I'd love to fly to the moon, I'm not an astronaut & simply not qualified for the job. So you won't catch me flying to the moon anytime soon. 5/5
