I used to find Hezbollah's intervention in Syria justifiable. Of course, I understand their rationale and its necessity for them. But The regime and is responsible through its choice of policy, repression, and actions during the uprising for creating the mess that Syria became https://twitter.com/Youssefkchahin1/status/1387386300379062275
My opposition did not begin at the level of responsibility but also at the sheer moral depravity of regime backers and their crimes against the Syrian people which they continue to deny in strategy to erase the victims be they alive or dead
My opposition increased the more I researched how blood stained the hands of the "righteous axis" are. From demonstrators in Iran and Iraq killed in hundreds to political dissidents and journalists.
What was most disgusting for me was the claim of righteousness and divine blessing coupled with justifying murder and violence against noncombatants and civilians. Analytically I managed to dissociate myself ideologically from the axis and treat it intellectually as a case study
A case study on authoritarianism, militant jihadism, and as pure political actors for whom violence is a tool among others.
Most fascinating for me is that exposing lies is often a few clicks away. But people are indoctrinated from a young age to filter information that opposes their normative worldview even when presented with evidence in front of their very eyes.
