Narratively they had to show her carrying a new one, or burying the old ones would read as her retiring from being a jedi. But her switching it on made no sense and reminded me of Solo when Darth Maul brandished his lightsaber on a zoom call for no reason

It was just a bizarre toy commercial moment, made way more bizarre by it being one of the final moments of the story, and then made depressing by them really clearly & deliberately dropping all the sequel trilogy characters from all marketing immediately after the film
