I’m sure some of you know this already, but for those who don’t: Touring can’t resume until indoor venues are operating at 80-100% capacity. (1/x)
Yes you can have a concert at 10% capacity, but unless the artist is driving down the street to get there, the economics don’t work (≈10x ticket prices, anyone?) (2/x)
You might get to see your friends’ band play, but your favorite artists aren’t coming to town (unless they’re one and the same - nice!). The plane tickets, gear rentals, bus, hotel rooms, other expenses all cost the same as they did before the pandemic. (3/x)
It’s exciting to see some dates starting to pop up for Fall tours, but unless all restrictions are gone in all cities/states by then, they’re not going to be able to happen either. (4/x)
Hopefully we’ll see some outdoor festivals this summer (which will be amazing!) where transmission risk is much lower, but to get real full scale touring back, there is only one way: VACCINATION. (5/x)
Please get your shots and encourage family and friends who may be hesitant to do the same. It is safe. It is effective. Those are facts. We have the data. Touring will be THE LAST thing to resume. If you enjoy live music, do your part ❤️💉 (6/6)
EPILOGUE: I’m probably preaching to the choir in our corner of the Twitterverse. It might be helpful for more artists to share this kind of info with their audiences though 🤷‍♀️
